Pink

We are celebrating Lee Denim Day this week at the office to raise money for breast cancer research on behalf of Gilda's Club of WNY. I love this day because we decorate the office in pink balloons and we all wear pink with our jeans and we are proud to be a small part of this wonderful cause.

The reason I bring this up is because I think women are awesome.

I, along with my family, have been going through a really tough time lately. As you know, I work full time and have a husband and 3 kids in 3 different schools. We have now added an elderly parent with dementia into the mix and let me tell you it's been rough. Really rough. I feel as though I am being pulled in a million different directions all the time. I have what I think is a permanent kink in my neck. But, I'm doing the best that I can which feels a lot like "not good enough". As my dear Aunt Elise would say, "I am so beside myself, I think  there is actually someone standing there."

The one good thing that has come out of this is that my sister in law and I have become closer and we talk almost everyday. We have been using our "girl power" to work together to do what's best by her father. This got me to thinking about the women around me. The women (and the Doctors for that matter) that I work with have been super supportive. They seem to understand that the million phone calls I have to make a day are warranted (they are) and trust that the work is getting done too (it is). For that, I thank you.

I have also done some complaining on Facebook. I receive only positive comments in return from my Facebook friends. I never get to see many of these people yet they are there for me. The friends that I do see are wonderfully supportive as well. For that, I thank you. Women just have a knack for listening and letting you vent. It's really great when you have support from many places. It's the little things that mean a lot. All of us need to stick together.

So, to all the Moms out there--even though I complain sometime I really do appreciate you taking the time to bring your child to the office. I know that sometimes it takes major juggling to fit everything in. I know that it is stressful but at the end of the day, you get the job done. Most likely, your efforts went unnoticed. But I am telling you that I am taking notice, so thank you.

Let's remember, Ladies, that we are amazing and fantastic and smart and beautiful. We can leap tall buildings in a single bound and kiss a boo boo to make it all better. We are teachers, doctors, accountants, chefs, chauffeurs and what ever else we need to be--usually all in the same day. Stand up and take a bow because I am giving you a standing ovation.
